Without inspiration and motivation we are but mindless drones who scour the earth in search of sustenance and a means to keep life going. The very thought of not having something to inspire and motivate or having someone telling you it’s possible, is just dread and unfair… We are creatures of habit, and to us, staying within our comfort zones is all we live for.
These are the things we thrive for in life, happiness, security, longevity and love. But then why do so many live without it while the rest live like kings? The answer is quite simple, they understand and have mastered something that you have not. By following these 5 steps they have made the universe theirs and will continue to flourish as long as they live.
1. Climb out from under the shadow
Our first Speech and the first step on the road to success comes from the 2005 Steve Jobs commencement speech at Stanford University, where in one of his most memorable senescence, he states “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” By far the most crucial and direct point anyone has ever made about success, simply put, by working for someone, you will never be successful, you might be content, but not successful. Success is taking something you believe in and making it work.
2. Keep going until you make it
The second Speech comes from the famous Rocky Balboa and the conversation he has with his son, where he says “It ain’t how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.” No one said that the road to success is paved, its one extremely bumpy road with people throwing rocks at you all the time, you just have to keep moving forward, because that’s how winning is done!
3. Be strong and trust in yourself
The third Speech comes from one of my favorite movies of all time, Braveheart where William says “They May Take Our Lives, But They’ll Never Take Our Freedom.” He believed in his cause, and because of that, others followed him into battle; just like William, to gain support, you must be confident and trust that you will make it. Love what you do and success will follow.
4. Success is commitment
The fourth Speech comes from Eric Thomas and features Giavanni Ruffin, the running back for East Carolina where Eric explains just how badly you need to want success, the most important quote is when he says “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful” To be passionate about what you do means everything, work hard and you will be rewarded.
5. Stay humble and keep true
The fifth Speech is the Barber’s Speech (The Great Dictator), where in he explains that he does not want to rule or conquer, he would rather help and see everyone flourish. Staying humble and understanding your limits, might just be the most important step of them all. Having a dream to succeed is fine, but breaking that dream up into manageable and realistic goals is the key to making it happen.
